Arrival Notes:
Interior Access: You will be provide with a 4-digit keypad access code to into the cottage.
Should you run into any entry challenges, be in touch (i.e. if the batteries in the key pad entry lock expire). We have alternate means of access in extenuating circumstances.
The lock on the sliding basement door is a bit wonky. There is a stick in the slide rail that is used to secure the entry.
Water Supply - Upon your arrival: The water main, well pump, and water heater may be “OFF”. If so…
Turn “ON” - Water Main: Valve in Utility Room, Well Pump: Breaker #14, and Hot Water Heater: Breaker #16-18 (if any are in the “OFF” position)
If the water pressure seems low (narrow/thin stream), the water filter may need to be changed. To do so, see video instructions on the “How-To” Videos page and/or call Tony (717.203.3921) for further insights…
Climate Control:
There are two mini-split units in the cottage. One upstairs in the entry/living area and one in the basement.
There are remote controls resting in holders:
Upstairs, on the wall between the two bedrooms.
Downstairs, on the wall, lower left of the heating unit.
Please return them to the holders, upon departure.
Upon arrival, do not be alarmed if the temperature reading on the remote reveals a low temperature, such as 50 degrees. The Mini-Split remotes work via an infrared signal. We monitor and adjust temperatures remotely, via WiFi with an App. The App and the infrared remotes do not sync. Therefore, there is often a discrepancy between the remote reading and the actual set temperature.
During colder months, upon your departure please press the MIN. HEAT button. This should make the units maintain a minimum heat of 50 degrees.
There are also electric baseboard heaters in each room/area that can be used supplementally during colder months.
Please monitor their usage and turn them off, when leaving the cottage and/or before departure.
Lastly, there is a propane heating unit in the basement.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS. It is older and in need of repair or replacement. It’s on the to-do list.
Before departure, please remember to:
During Colder Months - press the MIN. HEAT button on both remotes
Return the remotes to their holders.
